Explore the conversation between Teppo Hujala and Päivi Pelli on the future of forest research and horizon scanning.

Today’s world is characterised by disruptions. The changing climate, geopolitics, and technological development signal several possible directions for the future bioeconomy. Recent research papers demonstrate that horizon scanning is a scientifically proven method, for example, in identifying and prioritising emerging research topics, as well as handling critical issues in forestry.

In this conversation, Teppo Hujala from the University of Eastern Finland and Päivi Pelli from the European Forest Institute invite forest researchers to develop more systematic horizon scanning.
